The complete guide

Things to Do in Cappadocia

Balloons at dawn, cities carved eight storeys underground, valleys you can only reach on horseback — and a coffee cup read at the end of the day. Here is everything the region offers, what each one asks of you, and when to come.

The short answer

If you have three days in Cappadocia: fly at sunrise on the first clear morning, spend a day underground at Derinkuyu or Kaymaklı and among the rock churches of Göreme, and give the third to the valleys — on foot, on horseback or on a quad. Fit a winery, a pottery wheel in Avanos and a coffee reading around them.

Everything below is private: your own guide, your own vehicle, your own pace, in Turkish, English or Spanish. Nothing is paid for until we have confirmed your dates.

Balloon Tours

Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Tours

Every morning before first light, a few hundred balloons rise together out of the valleys around Göreme. It is the reason most people come to Cappadocia, and it is worth every early alarm. Flights are weather-dependent and places are limited, so book the date rather than the day.

Adventure & Outdoor

Adventure & Outdoor Tours in Cappadocia

Cappadocia rewards anyone willing to get down into it. On horseback, on a quad bike or on foot, the valleys open out in a way they never do from the road — narrow paths between fairy chimneys, orchards, and rock faces that turn copper at the end of the day.

Gastronomy

Wine Tasting & Food Tours in Cappadocia

The volcanic soil that made these valleys also makes the wine. Cappadocia has been growing grapes since the Hittites, and the local varieties — Emir, Kalecik Karası, Öküzgözü — taste of nowhere else. Add slow-cooked testi kebab and a coffee afterwards, and you have the region on a plate.

Honeymoon & Private VIP

Honeymoon & Private VIP Tours in Cappadocia

Every journey we arrange is private, but some of them need a little more care than that: an anniversary, a proposal, a first trip together. We plan those the way you would plan them yourself if you knew the region — quiet corners at the right hour, no queues, and nobody hurrying you back to the van.

The light here does most of the work, but knowing where to stand at 5.40am does the rest. Whether you want the balloons framed properly or your hands in Avanos clay, these are the mornings and afternoons you go home with something made.

Coffee Fortune & Traditions

Turkish Coffee Fortune Reading in Cappadocia

Turkish coffee is never only a drink. It is an invitation to sit down, slow down and talk — and when the cup is turned, to hear what the grounds have to say. These are the experiences we grew up with, shared the way they are shared at home.

Planning questions

Hot air balloon rides operate year-round in Cappadocia, but the best time is during spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) when weather conditions are more stable and views are breathtaking.
Three days is the honest answer. Two nights lets you see the main valleys and the underground cities, but it leaves no room for the weather — and balloon flights are cancelled for wind more often than visitors expect. A third day gives your flight a second chance and leaves an afternoon for Avanos, a winery or simply sitting still. Four or five days is comfortable rather than rushed.
Late April to early June, and September to late October. The weather is mild, the light is long, and balloons fly on most mornings. July and August are hot and busy; winter is cold and can be beautiful under snow, though flights are cancelled more often. If your trip hangs on the balloon, come in spring or autumn and give yourself a spare morning.
Very. Valley walks, pottery in Avanos and the underground cities go down well with children, and a private tour means you can stop when they need to. Balloon operators set their own minimum age, usually around six, and the underground cities involve some low, narrow passages — tell us their ages when you enquire and we will shape the day accordingly.
