Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about touring Cappadocia with Polygot Travel Agency.
The nearest airports to Cappadocia are Kayseri (ASR) and Nevşehir (NAV). Both airports offer transfer services to the region.
Underground city tours involve narrow tunnels and enclosed spaces, which may not be comfortable for people with claustrophobia. Our guides provide advance information and can offer alternatives if needed.
Hot air balloon rides operate year-round in Cappadocia, but the best time is during spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) when weather conditions are more stable and views are breathtaking.
Yes, the honeymoon tour is designed specifically for couples, including romantic accommodations, private dinners, and personalized surprises.
Hot air balloon tours typically start about 1 hour before sunrise. Participants are picked up from their hotels between 4:30 AM and 5:30 AM. The flight duration is approximately 60 minutes. Including the hotel transfer and post-flight celebration, the entire experience takes around 2.5 to 3 hours.
Three days is the honest answer. Two nights lets you see the main valleys and the underground cities, but it leaves no room for the weather — and balloon flights are cancelled for wind more often than visitors expect. A third day gives your flight a second chance and leaves an afternoon for Avanos, a winery or simply sitting still. Four or five days is comfortable rather than rushed.
Late April to early June, and September to late October. The weather is mild, the light is long, and balloons fly on most mornings. July and August are hot and busy; winter is cold and can be beautiful under snow, though flights are cancelled more often. If your trip hangs on the balloon, come in spring or autumn and give yourself a spare morning.
Private. Every journey we arrange is for your party alone — your own guide, your own vehicle and your own pace. That means you decide how long to stay somewhere, and nobody is waiting in a minibus for you to finish.
Turkish, English and Spanish. Spanish-speaking guiding is genuinely hard to find in Cappadocia, and it is one of the reasons this agency exists — you are guided in your own language, not through one.
No. A booking request costs nothing and commits you to nothing. We check availability for your dates first, come back to you with a clear price, and only then talk about payment.
In Avanos, in the heart of Cappadocia, on the bank of the Kızılırmak. It is about fifteen minutes from Göreme and roughly forty-five from Nevşehir airport, so we are local rather than an office in Istanbul selling the region from a distance.
Yes, from both airports that serve the region — Nevşehir Kapadokya (NAV), about forty-five minutes away, and Kayseri Erkilet (ASR), about an hour and fifteen. Send us your flight numbers with your enquiry and we will meet you.
Flights are grounded by the civil aviation authority whenever wind or visibility is unsafe, and that decision is made early in the morning, not the night before. If it happens we try to move you to the next morning; if you are leaving, the flight is refunded. This is exactly why we suggest keeping a spare morning in your plan.
Very. Valley walks, pottery in Avanos and the underground cities go down well with children, and a private tour means you can stop when they need to. Balloon operators set their own minimum age, usually around six, and the underground cities involve some low, narrow passages — tell us their ages when you enquire and we will shape the day accordingly.
Yes — Mehmet Gökçe, who runs the agency, reads cups himself, and it has quietly become one of the things guests remember most. It can be booked on its own or added to the end of another day. It is a tradition rather than a show: coffee, conversation and an unhurried hour, in Turkish, English or Spanish.
